"Road trip from Te Anau to Queenstown in New Zealand - hang on to your hat!"
Road trip from Te Anau to Queenstown in New Zealand - what a way to go!
In just a few minutes this "fast forward" video covers the whole distance between the exquisitely beautiful lakes of Te Anau and Wakatipu, on whose shores the holiday centre of Queenstown nestles before the amazing backdrop of the mountains known as The Remarkables.
Te Anau is the gateway to Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound, and a trip across the lake to the awe inspiring "living caves" of Te Ana-A-Au" is well worth the journey.
Queenstown is known as a Mecca for adrenalin junkies, with bungee - or bungy - jumping, jet boats (Shotover Jet), paragliding and all kinds of other adventures.
Between the two lakes and their associated towns lies a diverse landscape, sometimes exciting, sometimes very mundane and down-to-earth, but never boring.
The video even has its own "road song", a tune that accompanied the cameraman incessantly on his journey.
And just like any road trip, for a while we find ouselves stuck behind a white van that doesn't seem to want to go away. You could be forgiven for thinking that this is an ad for commercial vehicles!
But eventually it turns off and we are once again able to concentrate fully on the beauties of the shores of Lake Wakatipu as we approach the outskirts of the adventure capital of Queenstown
Whew - breathtaking is one word that comes to mind as we breeze along on this rather fast road trip from Te Anau to Queenstown in New Zealand !
